Softfootball can confirm that Kaoru Mitoma will not be part of Japan national football team squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The Brighton & Hove Albion winger is reportedly ruled out due to a hamstring injury he recently suffered.

Japan are yet to officially release their final squad for the 2026 World Cup, however several countries including Belgium, Ivory Coast and Haiti have already confirmed their official squads for the tournament.

Mitoma’s absence would be a huge blow for Japan considering his importance and attacking quality in recent years.
