Chelsea responded strongly after the break and drew level through Jackson, whose effort was initially ruled out for offside before a VAR review confirmed the goal.

However, the visitors’ celebrations were short-lived as Liverpool restored their advantage just three minutes later.

Jones arrived at the back post to finish from close range, capping an excellent individual performance with what proved to be the match-winning goal.

Chelsea searched for another equaliser in the closing stages but Liverpool defended resolutely to secure all three points in front of their home supporters.

The victory keeps Arne Slot’s side at the summit of the Premier League standings, while Chelsea were left to reflect on missed opportunities despite a spirited display at Anfield.
