Norway continued their strong start to the tournament with another Haaland-inspired victory. Marcus Holmgren Pedersen opened the scoring late in the first half, before Haaland doubled the lead shortly after the break, Softfootball reports.
Senegal responded through Ismaila Sarr, but Haaland punished slack defending again to restore Norway’s two-goal cushion. Sarr grabbed a late consolation, but it wasn’t enough to deny Norway progression with a game to spare.
The Manchester City striker now has four goals in two matches, keeping pace with Lionel Messi, who earlier in the day became the all-time World Cup top scorer with 18 goals, and Kylian Mbappé, who also scored a brace against Iraq.
Senegal must now beat Iraq in their final group game to have any chance of avoiding elimination.
