Pep Guardiola remains confident Manchester City will rediscover their best form despite the club’s recent struggles.

Softfootball understands that the Premier League champions suffered a fourth consecutive defeat after losing 2-1 to Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday, extending their worst run under Guardiola.

City looked on course to end their losing streak when Erling Haaland handed them a first-half lead, but Brighton produced a spirited comeback with two second-half goals to claim all three points.

The defeat followed previous losses to Tottenham Hotspur, Bournemouth and Sporting Lisbon, leaving the champions searching for answers ahead of the international break.

Despite the disappointing run, Guardiola remains optimistic that his side will recover, especially once injured players return to full fitness.

The Spaniard insisted he relishes difficult moments and is fully committed to leading Manchester City back to the level that has made them one of Europe’s dominant teams in recent years.

The latest setback leaves City on 23 points, five behind Premier League leaders Liverpool.

Liverpool strengthened their grip at the summit with a 2-0 victory over Aston Villa, setting up a potentially decisive showdown with Manchester City after the international break in what could prove to be a crucial fixture in this season’s title race.
