Former Real Madrid forward Joselu is set to continue his career in Qatar after agreeing a move to Al Sailiya Sports Club, with the transfer now at the “here we go” stage.

The Spanish striker has reached an agreement with the Qatari side and is expected to join as a free agent after leaving Al Gharafa. Joselu became available following his departure from the club, opening the door for Al Sailiya to secure an experienced forward without paying a transfer fee.

The 36-year-old previously enjoyed a memorable spell at Real Madrid, particularly during the 2023/24 campaign when his goals helped the club secure the Champions League, La Liga and Spanish Super Cup. His career has also included spells with several clubs in Spain, Germany and England before moving to Qatar.

Joselu will now look to bring his experience and goalscoring ability to Al Sailiya as he begins another chapter in his career.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid continue to dominate the financial landscape of Spanish football. La Liga’s latest Squad Cost Limit figures show that Los Blancos have the highest limit in the division at €832.7 million for the 2026/27 season.

The figure represents the maximum squad-cost capacity approved under La Liga’s financial regulations and covers more than player salaries, including bonuses, social security, agent commissions, transfer amortisation and other sporting costs.

Real Madrid’s €832.7m limit puts them comfortably ahead of Barcelona, who have a €582.7m limit, while Atletico Madrid sit third with €361.2m.

As Joselu prepares for his next adventure with Al Sailiya, Real Madrid’s record financial position highlights the huge difference between the club he once represented and his new destination in Qatar.
