Rivers United head coach Finidi George has revealed that former Super Eagles striker Brown Ideye could soon join the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) side.
Softfootball noted that Ideye’s recent appearances at Rivers United’s training sessions and matches have fueled speculation about a possible return to Nigerian domestic football.
The former AFCON 2013 winner has been training with the Port Harcourt club while also watching their games from the stands, attracting excitement among supporters.

Speaking to SportsBoom.com, Finidi admitted he would gladly welcome the experienced striker if he decides to complete the move.
The former Super Eagles coach explained that Ideye’s desire to give back to Nigerian football is the biggest motivation behind the potential transfer, adding that the club values his hunger and commitment despite not being able to match the financial rewards available abroad.
Finidi also praised Ideye’s professionalism, experience and leadership, noting that his presence has already had a positive influence on the younger players in the squad.
According to the Rivers United boss, the club’s youngsters are learning from Ideye’s movement, tactical awareness and calmness under pressure, while also benefiting from his willingness to share lessons from his successful career in Europe and with the Nigerian national team.
Finidi believes experienced players returning to the NPFL can help improve the quality of the domestic league and inspire the next generation of footballers.
He added that having someone with Premier League and FIFA World Cup experience around the squad sends a strong message to young players, proving that hard work and dedication can open doors to the highest level of football.
