FIFA through their X channel have officially announced a redesigned 360-degree pre-match ceremony for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, introducing several new immersive elements aimed at enhancing the stadium experience for supporters across all seating areas.

Softfootball understands that the updated presentation will feature large national flag banners, center-circle anthem arrangements, player entry arches, youth escorts, and music from the tournament’s official album. One of the biggest changes will see all matchday squad members including substitutes, standing together around the center circle during the national anthems to promote unity and stronger fan connection.

Fan reactions to the new ceremony format have been mixed, with some supporters praising the entertainment value and atmosphere, while others criticized what they described as an overly theatrical “American-style” presentation, urging FIFA to focus more on ticket affordability and fan accessibility.

Meanwhile, the Nigeria national football team continued preparations in Lisbon ahead of their friendly against Portugal national football team, with midfielder Alex Iwobi returning to full training after suspension.
