Manchester United’s struggles continued on Boxing Day as they suffered a 2-0 Premier League defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux, Softfootball reports.
The loss marked United’s third straight defeat, following previous setbacks against Tottenham Hotspur and Bournemouth. Despite entering the match on the back of four consecutive victories over Wolves, the Red Devils were unable to extend that run. Their previous defeat to Wolves had come in 2022.
After a goalless first half, United’s task became even more difficult just three minutes into the second half when captain Bruno Fernandes was shown a second yellow card and sent off.
Wolves capitalized on their numerical advantage, with Matheus Cunha opening the scoring in the 58th minute. Hwang Hee-chan sealed the victory deep into stoppage time, finding the net in the 99th minute to complete a deserved 2-0 win for the hosts.
The result leaves Manchester United in 14th place with 22 points, while Wolves remain 18th on 15 points in the Premier League standings.
