Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has revealed that he came close to leaving Old Trafford during the summer transfer window after receiving a tempting offer.
Softfootball added that the Portuguese midfielder decided to remain at Manchester United after the club made it clear that he was still an important part of their plans.
Speaking in an interview with ESPN, Fernandes confirmed that there were concrete offers for him and that Manchester United were aware of the possibility of his departure.
However, the club’s message convinced him to stay, especially as United were going through a period of change and wanted to move in a new direction.

Fernandes admitted that he now has a responsibility to meet both the club’s expectations and his own personal standards.
The midfielder also accepted that his performances this season have not yet reached the level he expects from himself.
He pointed out that he is still waiting for his first club goal of the campaign and hopes that once it comes, it will help him regain rhythm and confidence.
Fernandes said his focus is now on helping Manchester United return to winning ways and perform at a better level.
