Valencia manager Carlos Corberán has praised Umar Sadiq following the Nigerian striker’s encouraging debut in the club’s 2-0 Copa del Rey victory over Eldense.
Softfootball gathered that Sadiq came off the bench in the 58th minute as Valencia secured a comfortable win to advance to the next round of the competition.
The 27-year-old, who recently joined Los Ches on loan from Real Sociedad, made a positive first impression despite not getting on the scoresheet.
Introducing his assessment after the match, Corberán highlighted the striker’s mentality and commitment since arriving at the club. He said:
From day one he has come with the necessary attitude and mentality to play for Valencia CF.
Whoever comes must come with that commitment and that intention to help. Today was a first step where he has shown that attitude necessary for this moment.
Valencia have the option to make Sadiq’s move permanent at the end of the season if he impresses during his loan spell.
