Napoli coach Antonio Conte says he isn’t disappointed with his side’s performance, despite their 1-0 defeat to Lazio on Sunday costing them top spot in Serie A.
The result handed the league lead to Atalanta, but Conte remained upbeat when speaking to reporters after the match, insisting his team’s overall approach remains on the right path.
Softfootball understands the Italian coach pointed to positives in his side’s performance despite the setback. He said:
I think this match clearly showed that we are on the right track, because our idea of football is to be aggressive, take the initiative and try to create dangerous situations when in possession.
Conte did acknowledge one clear area for improvement going forward, adding:
We certainly need to improve on our crosses and final ball, this is not the first time we’ve spent a lot of time in the opposition final third and didn’t make more of that.
He closed by praising the effort of his players against a quality Lazio side, insisting there was no shame in the result given the level of opposition faced.
