Despite dealing with ongoing fitness issues this season, the 23-year-old delivered with trademark composure in difficult conditions. Speaking after the game in a video shared by the club’s official X account, Palmer kept his initial assessment simple.

He said:

Yeah, it was a good win. Difficult conditions. Decent, yeah.

Reflecting on the match itself, Palmer acknowledged a slight drop after the break but focused on the positives of getting back among the goals.

He explained that while the first half went to plan:

Second half was a bit flat.

On a personal level, he admitted the goals meant a lot, adding:

Personally, it feels good to get back on the score sheet.

Palmer was also open about the physical challenges he has faced, noting that he is still not there yet, like physically, with little niggles and injury and stuff, but stressed his belief that working closely with the medical team will help him overcome the injuries and show his level again.

Two of Palmer’s goals came from the penalty spot, both earned by João Pedro, whose partnership with the Chelsea forward continues to grow. Palmer made it clear that their chemistry extends beyond the pitch.

He said:

Yeah, I love playing with Joao. We’re good friends off the pitch as well, so it helps.

When asked about taking two penalties in the same half, Palmer revealed that the pressure changes slightly, but the approach stays consistent.

He explained:

Yeah, a little bit different, but still just try and follow the same routine and whatever and try and score.

Perhaps the most revealing part of Palmer’s interview came when he discussed his season as a whole. Having rarely dealt with injuries before, he described this campaign as a learning curve.

He said, outlining the frustration of managing fitness day by day:

Obviously, I’ve never been injured before. In my career, this is something new to me.

Despite that, Palmer was keen not to make excuses, insisting:

I’ll get over the injuries and I know what I can do when I’m fit.

He also credited Chelsea’s support system for helping him through this period, saying:

The staff have been good. Obviously, I’ve been working close day-to-day with physios and whatnot.

With 18 goals in 22 appearances and 30 combined goals and assists this season, Palmer’s form is driving a revitalised Chelsea attack, giving Rosenior’s side real belief as the campaign enters a decisive phase.
