Speaking ahead of the Chelsea fixture as reported by liverpool via their youtube channel, Slot addressed squad updates, tactical balance, and mentality within the group.

He confirmed that injury returns are gradually improving but not yet complete, stressing squad management going into the decisive games:

Alex has just started training again, he only joined us properly yesterday for the first time, so that’s positive. We’ll see how he reacts today and how much we can use him. Other players like Allison are still not back, while a few others are getting closer but not fully ready yet. It’s a slow process but we are moving in the right direction.

On team performance and consistency, he added in a more reflective tone:

We are not a team that can just survive games without performing well. Most of the time, if we play well, we get results. If we don’t, it becomes very difficult for us. So the focus is always on performance first because that usually determines everything else over the long run.

He also spoke about Chelsea’s tactical identity and expectations:

Chelsea are a team with a very clear structure. Even with different managers this season, they still have a defined style. They build with a back three system and adjust depending on players available, but the identity is still there. So we know what kind of game we are preparing for.

On squad evolution and future planning, he remained calm but forward-looking:

I am not worried about changes. As a manager, you always look forward. Players will come and go, that is normal in football. What matters is building again with the group you have and improving step by step.

Softfootball believes Liverpool’s inconsistency this season is less about talent and more about transition and game management lapses in key moments, especially when protecting leads or controlling tempo.
