This 2025/26 season has been full of activity for the Nigeria national football team centre-back. He was among the top players that played a vital role in helping Nigeria finish 3rd position in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations competition.
Bassey completed this 100 appearances milestone with a 1–1 draw against Wolverhampton Wanderers, who have been relegated this 2025/26 season, where he partnered with Issa Diop in central defence.
