Sunderland and Fulham will meet at the Stadium of Light on Sunday afternoon, with both sides looking to secure their first Premier League points of the 2026-27 campaign.
The Black Cats began the season with a frustrating 2-1 defeat to Ipswich Town, conceding Jack Clarke’s late winner after Nilson Angulo had restored parity. Regis Le Bris’ side will be determined to respond in front of their home supporters, although their recent defensive record remains a concern.
Fulham also suffered defeat on the opening weekend, losing 3-2 to Chelsea in a closely fought West London derby. However, Alvaro Arbeloa’s side responded impressively in midweek, beating AFC Wimbledon 3-0 in the EFL Cup.

One of the biggest positives for Fulham has been Gonzalo Garcia. The summer signing from Real Madrid scored on his competitive debut against Chelsea before adding another goal against Wimbledon, giving the Cottagers plenty of encouragement ahead of Sunday’s trip.
History also favours the visitors, with Fulham unbeaten in their last five meetings against Sunderland, winning four and drawing one. That run includes a Premier League double last season.
Sunderland, however, will hope home advantage can inspire a response as they begin their first home league fixture of the new campaign.
