Borussia Dortmund exploring Jadon Sancho reunion with potential third stint in sight

Borussia Dortmund are actively working on a potential deal to bring Jadon Sancho back to the club for a third spell whether through permanent move or a renewed loan arrangement, with negotiations reportedly still alive. The Bundesliga side are said to be confident of reaching an agreement before the transfer window closes.

The 25 year old winger left the Bundesliga side for Manchester United in 2021 but has struggled to live up to expectations at Old Trafford. After falling out of favour, Sancho spent last season on loan at Chelsea, where he showed glimpses of his talent, contributing five goals and 10 assists in 41 appearances and winning the UEFA Conference League.

Despite his contributions in West London, Chelsea opted against making the move permanent and even paid a reported £5 million fine to send him back to Manchester United, and the Red Devils would be open to parting ways with him for an offer worth €20m.

Softfootball understands that the England international is prepared to cut his salary by £150,000-a-week to facilitate a transfer back to Dortmund.

Such a compromise would still place Sancho among the top earners at the Signal Iduna Park. He has one year remaining on his United contract, but reports suggest manager Ruben Amorim has no intention of reintegrating the winger into his plans.

According to German football expert, Florian Plettenberg via his X handle, Borussia Dortmund are actively pursuing a move for Sancho with discussions still ongoing, the Bundesliga side continue to explore all options as they look to bring the Manchester United winger back to Signal Iduna Park for the third time.

The tweet reads:

“Borussia Dortmund are still working on a transfer for Jadon #Sancho and are exploring the possibility of a third return. Talks are ongoing.

“Sebastian Kehl did not deny Dortmund’s interest in Sancho yesterday. Speaking to Sky, he said: “We have various targets. We will still do something. We have a few days left”.

Dortmund are exploring the terms and while no agreement has been reached yet, negotiations remain alive. United, meanwhile, are keen to offload fringe players in order to free up space for potential late arrivals as they continue negotiations to sign highly rated striker, Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig.

Whether Sancho’s future lies in Manchester or back in Germany remains to be seen, but with the clock is ticking and Dortmund circling, the transfer saga is far from being over.
