Bayer Leverkusen manager Xabi Alonso has confirmed that Victor Boniface remains unlikely to feature against Borussia Dortmund, with the Nigeria international still working his way back from injury.
The striker had originally been targeted to return to training earlier in January, but his recovery has taken longer than initially hoped.

Softfootball understands Alonso provided an update on Boniface’s situation in an interview with Bild.
He said:
We were hoping that he would be back in training on January 2nd. That’s a shame. We have to be patient so that he gets back to his best shape and we get a better feel for the injury.
Alonso was careful not to set a firm return date, stressing the importance of a cautious approach given the uncertainty around the timeline. He added:
Normally, it’s not enough for next week. I don’t know. It’s better for the doctor to ask, but Boni needs a little more time, I can say that.
