Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva has admitted his side deserved to lose Sunday’s dramatic Manchester derby, following a late collapse that saw United snatch victory in stoppage time.
City looked on course for a much-needed win after Josko Gvardiol’s first-half opener, only to concede twice in the closing minutes as Bruno Fernandes and Amad Diallo turned the game on its head.
Softfootball has learned that Silva was blunt in his assessment of City’s late collapse while speaking to Sky Sports. He admitted:
In the last minutes we played like Under-15s, and you pay the price. We deserved what happened. Stupid decisions, we made. It’s the decisions that you make.
Silva closed by acknowledging that the squad has some serious soul-searching to do given their alarming recent form. Reflecting on the situation, he said:
We have to look at ourselves.
City have now won just once in their last 11 matches, leaving them fifth in the table on 27 points.
