Softfootball understands Barcelona have made a new verbal proposal to Manchester City worth €60 million plus add-ons for Rodri as negotiations continue over the Spanish midfielder.
Manchester City remain firm on their valuation and want around €80 million to sanction the midfielder’s departure. However, Barcelona are still confident that an agreement can be reached, with both sides now working towards finding a compromise.
A figure somewhere between Barcelona’s €60 million proposal and City’s €80 million valuation could prove decisive, with the structure of the add-ons expected to play an important role in bridging the gap.
Earlier this week, Softfootball reported that Manchester City had rejected Barcelona’s opening offer of around €45 million for Rodri, with the Premier League champions initially seeking a fee closer to €75 million.
Direct negotiations between the two clubs have continued, with officials discussing the structure and value of the transfer.
Rodri has already made his desire to join Barcelona clear, while personal terms with the Catalan club have been agreed. The remaining obstacle is now reaching a financial agreement with Manchester City.
