Barcelona’s attacking midfielder, Fermin Lopez has confirmed a successful surgery, however Softfootball understands he will still miss the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Fermin Lopez, who in January secured his future with Barcelona on a new long-term deal until 2031, is not expected to be named in Spain national football team’s official squad for the 2026 World Cup.
He is not the only Spanish and Barcelona star who could miss the World Cup, with Lamine Yamal also most likely to miss the tournament due to recovering from the injury he suffered during Barcelona’s win over RC Celta de Vigo on April 24, 2026.
The absence of both players would be a huge blow for Spain ahead of the tournament, considering their importance to both club and country.
