Barcelona are reportedly exploring the possibility of signing Tottenham Hotspur captain Son Heung-min on a free transfer when his contract expires at the end of the season, Softfootball reports.
The South Korean forward is in the final year of the contract he signed in 2021 and is now eligible to negotiate a pre-contract agreement with clubs outside England.
Reports in Spain suggest Barcelona have identified the experienced attacker as an attractive option as they continue to manage financial constraints.
The Catalan club are also believed to be monitoring several other players whose contracts are nearing expiration, including Bayern Munich duo Joshua Kimmich and Leroy Sane, as well as Bayer Leverkusen defender Jonathan Tah.
Son has remained an important figure for Tottenham despite an inconsistent campaign. The 32-year-old has scored five Premier League goals in 17 appearances this season and was rested for Spurs’ recent defeat to Newcastle due to fatigue.
Barcelona’s interest could intensify in the coming months as they seek experienced reinforcements without paying a transfer fee.
