Softfootball can confirm Barcelona are considering Sporting striker Luis Suárez among their options should they fail to reach an agreement for Julián Álvarez.
Suárez is part of Barcelona’s shortlist for a potential alternative, although a deal would not be straightforward given his importance to Sporting and his status as a key player for the Portuguese club.
Barcelona are expected to assess Suárez and other alternatives from next week if the situation surrounding Álvarez remains unresolved.
The Catalan club continue to prioritise their preferred targets but are preparing contingency plans in case they cannot secure the Atlético Madrid forward.
The development comes as Barcelona also prepare to return with a third proposal for Manchester City midfielder Rodri.

Barça have already seen proposals worth around €50 million and €60 million rejected by City, but remain confident of reaching an agreement.
Direct negotiations between the two clubs are continuing, with Barcelona looking to find a compromise between their latest €60 million offer and Manchester City’s €80 million valuation.
