Barcelona sporting director Deco has closed the door on the club’s previous interest in Julián Álvarez, insisting that the Atlético Madrid striker is now part of the past.
Speaking about the Argentine forward, Deco said Barcelona must focus on the players currently at the club rather than continue looking back at transfer targets they were unable to sign.

We have to look forward, and we’re happy with what we have. I hope he’s doing well too and that he helps his club.
The Barcelona director also acknowledged that transfer negotiations do not always result in completed deals, particularly when several factors have to be considered before an agreement can be reached.

Deco added.
Softfootball understands that Álvarez’s name had previously been linked with Barcelona, but the Catalan club ultimately moved forward with its existing attacking options while the Argentine continued his career at Atlético Madrid.
The forward has since remained an important part of Diego Simeone’s plans, and his availability received a major boost after the Atlético boss confirmed that he had recovered in time for the Madrid Derby.
Simeone said Álvarez would be available for the clash against Real Madrid, although the manager would decide whether to start him or introduce him during the match depending on his condition.
For Álvarez, the focus is now firmly on Atlético, while Barcelona have moved on from their previous pursuit and are concentrating on their current squad.
