Former Arsenal captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has revealed details of his difficult relationship with Mikel Arteta before leaving the club for Barcelona in 2022.

Introducing the incident, Aubameyang admitted he made a mistake but felt Arteta failed to appreciate the circumstances. Aubameyang explained:

It was my mistake. I should have come home the night before, but I was dealing with everything surrounding my mother.

He knew the reason, but he said I stabbed him in the back. I expected help from him, not for him to kill me like that.

The former Arsenal forward was stripped of the captaincy before eventually leaving the club by mutual consent to join Barcelona, where he enjoyed an impressive spell before moving to Chelsea and later Marseille.
