Arsenal are reportedly preparing a new contract for William Saliba as they look to keep the defender away from Real Madrid’s interest.

Softfootball understands that Arsenal have no intention of selling Saliba in the coming transfer windows, with the French centre-back seen as a key part of Mikel Arteta’s long-term project.

Saliba has developed into one of the most important players at the Emirates and has played a major role in Arsenal’s push to challenge Manchester City for the Premier League title.

His impressive performances have also attracted attention from Real Madrid, who are said to be keen on adding him to their squad.

According to TEAMtalk, Madrid have recently made contact with Saliba’s representatives, but Arsenal have made their position clear.

The Gunners would only even consider a sale if a huge offer arrived, and any possible deal would likely have to become a club-record transfer.

Saliba’s current contract runs until June 2027, but Arsenal are now eager to tie him down to fresh terms to remove any doubt over his future.

A January move to Real Madrid is considered impossible, while next summer may depend on Madrid’s transfer priorities.

Although a move to Spain could interest Saliba later in his career, he is currently focused on Arsenal and helping the club become one of the strongest teams in England and Europe.
