Southampton midfielder Joe Aribo has been named Man of the Match following his impressive performance in the Saints’ 2-1 victory over Ipswich Town in the Premier League.

Aribo opened the scoring for Southampton in the 21st minute, registering his third league goal of the season before Paul Onuachu later struck the decisive goal three minutes from full-time.

According to Softfootball, the Nigeria international received 36.8 percent of the supporters’ votes to finish ahead of nine other nominees for the award.

Ipswich forward Liam Delap, who scored his side’s equaliser, finished second with 32.4 percent, while Onuachu came third after receiving 12.8 percent of the votes.

Aribo also produced a solid all-round performance, completing 80.5 percent of his passes and recording one successful dribble during the contest.

The victory provided a much-needed boost for Southampton, who had suffered six consecutive league defeats before travelling to Ipswich.

Despite claiming all three points, the Saints remain at the bottom of the Premier League table with nine points and are still 10 points away from safety.
