Arda Güler has apologised to Turkey fans after the national team crashed out of the 2026 World Cup, following a 1–0 defeat to Paraguay in their second group‑stage match. The loss leaves Turkey with 0 points, 0 goals, and no chance of progressing.
This was his statement:
We want to apologize, we feel ashamed. We all play for top clubs and we should do way better on this competition.
In two games, we scored zero goals and it’s not acceptable.
The Barça star was visibly disappointed, and he was not alone. Merih Demiral was also seen devastated as Turkey became the first team eliminated from the tournament.
On the other hand, with the USA beating Australia 2–0 and reaching the maximum 6 points, the host nation has officially qualified for the next round, currently sitting top of Group D.
