Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has delivered a scathing assessment of his team after their 3-1 Premier League defeat to Brighton at Old Trafford.
The loss was United’s fourth defeat in five home league matches and left the club struggling in the bottom half of the Premier League table.
Amorim, who replaced Erik ten Hag in November, has managed just two victories in his first 10 league games in charge, increasing the pressure on the Portuguese coach.
Speaking after the Brighton defeat, Amorim admitted that United’s current situation is extremely poor and called for a major improvement. He said:
We are the worst team maybe in the history of Manchester United. We have to acknowledge that and change that.
According to Softfootball, the manager’s comments came after United were largely outplayed despite Bruno Fernandes cancelling out Brighton’s early opener from the penalty spot.
Kaoru Mitoma restored the visitors’ lead before Andre Onana made a costly error that allowed Georginio Rutter to score Brighton’s third.
Amorim will now face increasing pressure to turn around United’s fortunes as the club struggles to find consistency.
