Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has admitted he always expected a difficult start to life at Old Trafford after another disappointing result left the club enduring one of its toughest Premier League campaigns.
United slumped to a 3-0 home defeat against Bournemouth, with Dean Huijsen opening the scoring before Justin Kluivert converted a penalty and Antoine Semenyo wrapped up the victory with a third goal.
Softfootball understands the defeat came just days after the Red Devils were eliminated from the Carabao Cup by Tottenham, piling further pressure on the Portuguese coach.
Despite the disappointing run, Amorim remains confident the team can recover. He said:
I always expected the job to be tough, especially in these busy months. We are ready to face the challenge. It’s a very difficult moment. We have to go again next game.
Defender Lisandro Martinez also backed the manager and insisted the squad remains united despite recent setbacks. Martinez said:
We are so angry with this kind of situation. We have to work on set-pieces especially. I believe a lot in this team and staff. We are 100% confident that we will get success in this club.
