Trent Alexander-Arnold has reportedly rejected Liverpool’s latest contract offer, with Spanish giants Real Madrid continuing to push for the England international’s signature.

The Liverpool vice-captain is entering the final months of his current deal, meaning he will be free to negotiate with overseas clubs from January 1. Softfootball understands Real Madrid have identified Alexander-Arnold as the ideal long-term replacement for veteran right-back Dani Carvajal.

According to reports in Spain via TEAMtalk, the defender has already decided to join the European champions when his contract expires at the end of the season.

Spanish outlet Marca claimed Alexander-Arnold informed Liverpool of his intention to move to the Santiago Bernabéu, increasing concerns among Reds supporters.

However, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has urged caution over the reports.

Romano stated that “everything is under control” at Liverpool and insisted that “nothing has been communicated” to Real Madrid regarding the player’s future.

Liverpool remain hopeful of convincing the academy graduate to stay, but uncertainty continues to surround one of the club’s most influential players as speculation intensifies ahead of the January transfer window.
