Ademola Lookman is back and he will be available from tomorrow.

The 27-year-old had endured a difficult start to the season after a fallout with Atalanta’s hierarchy, triggered by his attempt to force a move to domestic rivals Inter Milan. In the aftermath of that transfer saga, Lookman was frozen out of the squad by new head coach Ivan Juric, who demanded total commitment from his players.

During this period, Lookman was excluded from matchday squads, limited only to solo training sessions, and his future in Bergamo appeared highly uncertain.

The situation began to change after Atalanta’s 4-0  painful defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Champions League, a game which highlighted the absence of Lookman in the Italian club.

Following that loss, Juric initiated decisive talks with Lookman, holding two important meetings in which the player was asked to give an unwavering pledge of loyalty to the team. Lookman responded positively, assuring both Juric and the club’s management that he was ready to give his all for Atalanta. Club captain Marten de Roon also publicly welcomed the possibility of the Nigerian’s reintegration, reflecting a broader willingness within the dressing room to move forward.

In addition to his conversations with the coach, Lookman reportedly addressed his teammates directly, explaining the personal and professional challenges he faced over the summer and clarifying his actions during the transfer saga.

Now reintegrated into training, Lookman is expected to feature in Atalanta’s upcoming Serie A fixture against Torino.

For Juric, this reconciliation offers an opportunity to fully implement his tactical vision with all key players at his disposal, while for Lookman, it represents a chance to rebuild trust and reaffirm his value to the club after a turbulent summer.
