In the contest for PSG and Morocco star Achraf Hakimi, who had just made history as the 2025 CAF African player of the year, there has been a massive turn. After being indicted back in March 2023, Hakimi has officially been referred to the criminal court in Hauts-de-Seine, France, to face rape charges.
Softfootball can attest to the fact that the case stems from an incident in February 2023. According to reports, Hakimi met a young woman on social media, and she later visited his home.
From there, the two stories couldn’t be more different than they are now. Gary Ai-smith on Facebook stated:
Indicted for rape in March 2023, Achraf Hakimi has been referred to the criminal court in Hauts-de-Seine, France.

Gary also mentioned in his post that the PSG player defended himself stating that they only shared a kiss, and the allegations are completely fabricated and false. While the accuser claims she was raped during the encounter at his place of residence
Hakimi isn’t backing down from his defense. As Gary referenced the statement made via France Info, Hakimi expressed his frustration with how the legal system is handling this situation, arguing that an accusation shouldn’t be enough to cause a trigger in trial when he believes the evidence proves his total innocence.
While Hakimi continues to play, this trial is a bone in the throat hanging over his career. The French court system will now decide the defender’s fate as the football world watches closely to see how the “truth” he’s waiting for will actually unfold in front of the judge.
Elsewhere, Here are 3 players that can replace Salah at Liverpool; one escaped alleged rape charge.
Also, barely four days after he was released by Arsenal, Thomas Partey has been charged with five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault, the Crown Prosecution Service has confirmed.
