Vitinha has firmly rejected speculation linking him with a move to Real Madrid, insisting that leaving Paris Saint-Germain would make little sense at this stage of his career.

Softfootball understands the Portuguese midfielder addressed the rumours directly, with comments shared by Fabrizio Romano via his official X handle. Vitinha made it clear he feels completely settled in Paris and has no intention of walking away from the project currently being built at the Parc des Princes.

Romano posted:

Vitinha on Real Madrid links: “It would be stupid for me to leave Paris St Germain”. “I don’t think a move to Madrid is the best thing for me right now. I feel great here at PSG. We have a fantastic squad and an incredible coach in Luis Enrique”, told Canal 11.

The 26-year-old has grown into one of PSG’s most influential midfielders since joining from FC Porto in 2022 for around €40 million. His composure on the ball, tactical intelligence and ability to dictate tempo have made him a central figure in Luis Enrique’s system, helping PSG maintain their dominance domestically while remaining competitive in Europe.

Vitinha emphasised that his connection to the club goes beyond football, highlighting the stability and appreciation he feels both on and off the pitch.

he added:

I feel very good here at PSG. People appreciate me a lot and I’ve earned that affection. I love being here and my family does too. The group is fantastic and the coach is incredible

The midfielder is currently under contract with PSG until 2029, a long-term deal that underlines the club’s faith in him as a cornerstone of their midfield. Despite the growing financial pull of the Middle East, Vitinha also dismissed the idea of moving to the Saudi Pro League, explaining that money alone would not influence his decisions.

he said:

Let’s not be naive. I’m more committed to a stable career. I already earn very well here in Europe at a big club. Doubling or tripling my salary wouldn’t make me any happier.

Interestingly, when asked to name the best midfielders in the world, Vitinha chose to highlight talent outside Madrid’s ranks. The Portuguese international named Pedri of FC Barcelona as the standout player in his position.

“I would put Pedri in first place. He’s magical. It’s spectacular to watch him play. When you play against him, you understand it even better,” Vitinha explained.

He then added fellow Portuguese stars João Neves and Bruno Fernandes to his personal elite group, joking that instead of a top three, he prefers a “top four” that also includes himself.

His rise has already been recognised globally. In December 2025, Vitinha was crowned Best Midfielder at the Globe Soccer Awards in Dubai, a prize that reflected his growing influence for both PSG and the Portugal national football team.

Despite growing recognition across Europe and talk of potential Ballon d’Or contention in the future, Vitinha remains grounded. He believes his place among the world’s top midfielders is earned through consistent performances over several seasons rather than short bursts of form.

he then concluded:

I accept being one of the best, but to say the best would seem arrogant. That depends on opinions, on how long you’ve been at the top level, and the titles you’ve won. But I do feel I belong in that group because of what I’ve done in recent years.

With Real Madrid seemingly facing resistance in their pursuit of the PSG star, attention could turn toward alternative midfield targets. One name frequently linked is Enzo Fernández of Chelsea FC.

Reports during the 2025 summer transfer window suggested Madrid were considering a €150 million bid for the Argentine playmaker as they continue planning for the future of their midfield at the Santiago Bernabéu.
