Barcelona Duo Reveal €40,000 Fine Under Hansi Flick as Cancelo Loan Confirmed

FC Barcelona players Ferran Torres and Pedri made an appearance on Spanish television show El Hormiguero, where they shared insights into life inside the dressing room under head coach Hansi Flick  SoftFootball reports.

The most striking revelation concerned Flick’s strict disciplinary measures regarding punctuality. In comments highlighted by transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano on his official x handle, Torres explained that arriving 10 minutes late can result in a fine of approximately €40,000.

Ferran Torres: “Hansi Flick has just changed the rules on arriving late”. “If it’s matchday and you’re late, you have to pay €40,000 fine”, told @El_Hormiguero.

He added that on matchday, lateness is viewed as a serious lack of focus, with players effectively told they might as well stay home if delayed by 20 minutes. The pair also noted Flick’s emphasis on order and discipline in the dressing room.

The appearance comes shortly after Barcelona reclaimed top spot in LaLiga, capitalising on Real Madrid’s 2–1 defeat to CA Osasuna. Barcelona now sit on 61 points, one ahead of their rivals, intensifying the title race.

During the programme, both players were asked which Real Madrid CF player they would sign for Barcelona. They agreed on Kylian Mbappé.

Torres also recounted an anecdote involving Pedri and Vinícius Júnior during a Copa del Rey final, describing a moment when Pedri found himself isolated defensively. Pedri responded humorously, acknowledging Vinícius’ pace and the need to delay him until support arrived.

Torres went on to praise Pedri’s importance to the team, emphasising his influence in dictating tempo and the need to keep him in peak condition. Pedri also confirmed he does not drink alcohol, while Torres admitted he drinks very little, joking about his preferences.

Elsewhere, Barcelona have officially confirmed the return of João Cancelo. The Catalan club reached an agreement with Al Hilal SFC for the Portuguese full-back to join on loan until the end of the 2025–26 season, finalising negotiations that had been ongoing in recent weeks.
