Softfootball understands that Alexis Mac Allister says Liverpool are finally finding their rhythm again, but he’s quick to warn that momentum means nothing if they take their foot off the gas now.

The Reds welcome Manchester City to Anfield on Sunday with spirits lifted after two emphatic wins, defeating Qarabag 6-0 in the Champions League and Newcastle United 4-1 in the Premier League, racking up a combined 10–1 scoreline.

It’s the kind of response that sends a small message. Still, Mac Allister isn’t getting carried away, speaking ahead of the game as reported by Liverpool via their official X account.

He said:

We feel like we are in a good moment, much better than at the beginning of the season. We are improving as a team, that’s the most important thing. But we can’t relax now.

He also spoke about how much impact the manager had on the team.

He stated:

The manager had a really good meeting where he said that we needed to improve in both boxes. That’s what we wanted and I think we showed it in the last two games. But we were more aggressive, we pressed a little bit more. That’s what we want and that’s what we want to get and be consistent on that. I think it’s going to be key.

Speaking about the game against Manchester City, he also expressed how good the team are and how much liverpool has improved from the start of this season.

He added:

They are in a good moment as well. They’re a really good team and they showed it against us at the Etihad. I think we are a better team [than then] and we improved quite a lot from that game, but now we need to show it.

Mac Allister also praised new arrivals Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike, whose quick combinations and sharp movement have added another dimension to the attack. Six goals between them already.

He said:

I think they complement each other really well,They are both big talents and I think everyone can see their quality. We can notice that they love to play one-twos and these kind of things, which is really good because they can generate goals and assists in just a moment like this. So, I’m really pleased for them. I think they are showing how good they are. But as I said, I think as a team we still need to improve and that’s what we want.

With Anfield behind them and form slowly clicking into place, Liverpool look ready. Or almost ready. Now it’s about showing it when it counts most, because good moments pass quickly if you’re not careful.
