Real Sociedad are finding their rhythm again in early 2026, and the signs of a resurgence are clear both on the pitch and in the highlights the club is proudly sharing.
On their official X account, Sociedad recently posted a clip of a “sensational play” that summed up their growing confidence: Mikel Oyarzabal opened up the move, Beñat Turrientes supplied the assist, and Gonçalo Guedes finished clinically. That kind of slick teamwork has become a feature of their improved form.

The turnaround started with late drama at Getafe on January 9, when Jon Aramburu headed home in the 96th minute from a Takefusa Kubo cross to seal a 2–1 win. It ended a five-game winless run and marked the first league victory of the Pellegrino Matarazzo era.
Four days later came a Copa del Rey classic at the Reale Arena against Osasuna. Trailing 2–0, Sociedad fought back through Turrientes and a 92nd-minute equaliser from Igor Zubeldia to force extra time. Even after Oyarzabal missed a penalty, they held their nerve to win the shootout 4–3 their first home shootout win in 30 years.
Guedes’ influence has continued to grow, highlighted by his winning goal in a 1–0 derby victory over Athletic Club on February 1, again set up by Oyarzabal.
According to Softfootball, these results have pushed Real Sociedad into the top half of LaLiga. As of February 5, 2026, they sit 8th with 28 points from 22 matches and with momentum building, the Txuri-urdin are starting to look like a team on the rise again.
