David Datro Fofana is on his way to Strasbourg on loan from Chelsea football club on transfer deadline, Softfootball reports.
The Blues have a good relationship with the French side as they share the same owners and that helps to move players easily between the clubs. Chelsea recently sent Aaron Anselmino to Strasbourg on loan after recalling him from Bundesliga side, Borussia Dortmund.
According to football transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano via his official X handle confirms that Fofana is close to a move to the French team. He wrote:
David Datro Fofana to RC Strasbourg, here we go! Deal done with documents approved. Despite interest from another French club and Mallorca, Datro Fofana leaves Chelsea on loan to join Strasbourg immediately. Key to help cover Emegha’s absence for next weeks.
In last summer’s transfer window, Ben Chilwell left Chelsea for Strasbourg on deadline day. The England left back had spent the whole of last season on loan at Crystal Palace and helped the Eagles to a FA Cup win in a dramatic 1-0 victory over Manchester City at the famous Wembley stadium.
Fofana joined Chelsea from Molde in January 2023 for a reported €12 million. The Ivorian international made his debut in Jan 2023 but has spent most of his tenure on loan at Union Berlin, Burnley, and Göztepe.
Strasbourg are currently seventh on the Ligue 1 table with 30 points after 20 matches so far this season.
