Jeremie Frimpong has called on Liverpool to deliver another convincing Champions League performance as they look to secure automatic qualification for the last 16. Speaking ahead of the Reds’ final league phase fixture against Qarabag at Anfield, the Dutch full-back stressed that victory would confirm a top-eight finish and remove the need for knockout round play-offs.
According to SoftFootball, Liverpool know exactly what is at stake on Wednesday night and are determined to finish the job in front of their home supporters. Frimpong believes Liverpool’s European form has been more stable than their domestic results and insists the squad is fully focused on capitalising on that position.

Reflecting on the campaign so far, he explained in a post shared by the club’s official X account the mindset inside the dressing room.
He said:
I think sometimes football is like this – sometimes it goes your way, sometimes it doesn’t. Obviously we try our best every game but sometimes it just doesn’t work out that way.
He added:
But in the Champions League we’re doing good, we’re in a good position. If we win tomorrow, we can qualify to [the] Round of 16, so we’re really focused on that.
His comments followed Liverpool’s recent European success, including the comfortable win over Marseille that strengthened their qualification push. Since returning from two hamstring injuries earlier in the season, Frimpong has become an increasingly important figure under Arne Slot.

He has contributed assists against Tottenham, Wolves and Fulham, while also scoring his first Anfield goal in the FA Cup victory over Barnsley. That performance highlighted his attacking qualities and adaptability, traits Slot has leaned on during Mohamed Salah’s absence at the Africa Cup of Nations.
Frimpong himself has embraced the responsibility, saying:
As long as I’m on the pitch, I’ll give my all. I love playing on the side, that’s where I’m comfortable.
Discussing how he has settled at the club, Frimpong spoke warmly about his return to England and the environment at Anfield.
He said:
I feel really good. Obviously I’m from Manchester, so to be back in the UK is really nice. To play for a team like Liverpool is really a privilege.

He then added:
I’ve got good teammates as well. I’m really happy where I am right now.
He also admitted the Premier League has been a step up physically, noting:
It’s much more demanding, much more physical. It is different.
Frimpong also reflected on Liverpool’s ambitions across competitions. With the Reds still active in Europe and the FA Cup, he was clear about what would define success.
He stated:
We’re still in the FA Cup, we’re still in the Champions League. So if we win the FA Cup and Champions League, we’ll be really happy.

He recalled past encounters with Qarabag from his Bayer Leverkusen days, warning against complacency.
He said, stressing the need for full concentration:
I know how good they are, I know they are Champions League level for sure.
Liverpool host Qarabag on Wednesday night knowing that a strong performance will not only secure progression but also reinforce Frimpong’s growing influence in a side determined to compete on every front this season.
