Liverpool have made official club-to-club contact with Genk over a potential move for goalkeeper Lucca Brughmans.
Softfootball understands that Liverpool are assessing whether to sign the goalkeeper immediately or potentially bring him to Anfield from 2027.
The situation is closely linked to Giorgi Mamardashvili, with Liverpool considering Brughmans as an option should the Georgian goalkeeper complete a proposed move to Nottingham Forest.
A deal is now being discussed between the two clubs, with Liverpool evaluating the best timing and structure for the transfer.
The goalkeeper development comes after Liverpool were held to a 2-2 draw by Nottingham Forest at Anfield, with the visitors twice taking the lead before the Reds fought back to secure a point.
Forest made the stronger start and deservedly opened the scoring through Dan Ndoye, who ended a 377-day Premier League goal drought.
Liverpool struggled against Forest’s direct approach, while Matz Sels’ long ball played a key role in creating the opening. The visitors could have extended their advantage before half-time, but Alisson produced an outstanding save to deny Igor Jesus, pushing his effort onto the crossbar.
Meanwhile, Liverpool continue to make major moves in attack after reaching an agreement in principle with Paris Saint-Germain for Bradley Barcola.
The French winger is set to arrive in a deal worth an initial £100 million plus £20 million in add-ons, potentially taking the package to £120 million.
Barcola emerged as Liverpool’s priority target following their failed pursuit of Yan Diomande. Negotiations with PSG proved difficult, but an agreement has now been reached after weeks of talks and PSG’s arrivals of Maghnes Akliouche, Ferran Torres and Mika Godts.
With Barcola arriving and goalkeeper plans being assessed, Liverpool remain active as they continue shaping their squad under Andoni Iraola.
