Spanish football icon Andrés Iniesta has been honoured with the Globe Soccer Player Career Award at the 2025 Globe Soccer Awards ceremony held in Dubai on Sunday, December 28, 2025, Softfootball reports.

Iniesta, born on 11 May 1984, is widely regarded as one of the greatest midfielders of all time. He spent the majority of his illustrious career at FC Barcelona, where he formed a legendary midfield trio with Xavi Hernández and Lionel Messi, redefining the famous tiki-taka style of football.

During his time at Barcelona, Iniesta won numerous titles, including multiple La Liga, UEFA Champions League, and domestic trophies. On the international stage, he remains immortal in Spanish football history after scoring the winning goal in the 2010 FIFA World Cup final, securing Spain’s first-ever World Cup triumph.

A product of the La Masia academy, he formed part of the wonder trio with Xavi and Messi that made Barcelona’s “Tiki-Taka” a global trademark. In the Blaugrana shirt, he won everything there was to win, collecting 32 trophies, including 9 Spanish league titles and 4 UEFA Champions Leagues, and was a key protagonist in two historic “Trebles” (2009 and 2015).

But it was with Spain that he became immortal: his was the decisive goal in the 116th minute of the final against the Netherlands that gifted Spain its first historic World Cup in 2010, nestled between two European Championship victories (2008 and 2012).

After bringing his class to Japan with Vissel Kobe, he leaves a legacy made not only of titles but of elegance and fair play, making him the eternal “Illusionist” of world football.

Iniesta joins a prestigious list of awardees at the 2025 ceremony, including Hidetoshi Nakata, who also received a Career Award, Portugal as Best National Team of the Year, Barcelona Women as Best Women’s Team, Bilal Haddad as Best Sports Content Creator in the Middle East, and Luis Enrique as Best Coach of the Year.
