Softfootball understands that Manchester United’s growing injury concerns have deepened once again after head coach Rúben Amorim confirmed that four important first-team players will miss the club’s upcoming Premier League clash against Wolverhampton Wanderers.
The Red Devils welcome Wolves to Old Trafford on Tuesday night, but preparations have hardly gone to plan.
Speaking during his latest press conference, as reported by Fabrizio Romano via his official X account, Amorim revealed the worrying update.

He said:
I think Kobbie Mainoo, Bruno Fernandes, De Ligt and Harry Maguire will not be ready for this game.
It is a heavy setback for United, stripping the side of leadership, creativity and defensive stability in one game.
Bruno Fernandes’ absence is perhaps the biggest concern. The Portuguese midfielder, United’s creative heartbeat, is currently sidelined with a hamstring injury picked up in Manchester United’s 2-1 defeat to Aston Villa.

He is expected to miss several weeks, leaving a noticeable void in midfield. Harry Maguire is also dealing with a hamstring issue and, although close to a return, is still short of match fitness.
At the back, Matthijs de Ligt remains unavailable as he continues his recovery from a persistent back problem. His absence further weakens a defence that has struggled for consistency this season.
Meanwhile, youngster Kobbie Mainoo will also miss out after sustaining a calf injury in training, an issue that has already forced him to sit out United’s last two matches.

To make matters worse, United are also without Noussair Mazraoui, Amad Diallo and Bryan Mbeumo, all away on international duty at the Africa Cup of Nations. That’s a lot of names missing, no doubt about it.
Amorim faces a real selection headache. Squad depth will be tested, and some fringe players may get chances they didn’t quite expect.
Tuesday night now feels like more than just another league game. It’s a test of resilience, adaptability and maybe belief. United have been here before, but this time, the margin for error feels very thin.
