Manchester United have taken a significant step forward in their ambitious stadium redevelopment plans after confirming the acquisition of the majority of the land required for a proposed 100,000-seat venue.
The club announced that it has purchased a 25-acre site from Indurent, located around 350 metres north-west of Old Trafford. The acquisition removes one of the biggest potential obstacles facing the project and strengthens hopes that the long-term regeneration of the area can proceed without major delays.
Away from infrastructure developments, United remain active in the transfer market. Softfootball understands the club continues to hold a strong interest in Mateus Fernandes despite increasing competition from rival clubs across Europe. The Portuguese midfielder remains one of the most sought-after young talents on the market, and United’s pursuit highlights their determination to strengthen both on and off the pitch ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.

The newly secured land sits between Europa Way, Wharfside Way and John Gilbert Way, allowing the club to avoid complications surrounding neighbouring Freightliner-owned property that had previously been viewed as a potential stumbling block.
Further details regarding the regeneration masterplan and formal consultation process are expected to be released on July 9 as Manchester United continues working on the design phase alongside supporters and stakeholders.
