Rayan Cherki was the hero of the day as he inspired Manchester City’s 2-1 victory over a resilient Nottingham Forest side, Softfootball reports.
The Cityzens came into the match after a 3-0 win over West Ham last weekend while Forest lost 1-0 to Fulham on Monday night in the premier league Match-day 17 fixture.

During our preview for the match, Softfootball mentioned that Manchester City are eyeing top spot as they face Nottingham Forest at the City ground and that is exactly what they went for.
The game did not go as expected in the first 45 minutes for the Cityzens as Sean Dyche’s men denied them as spaces as the first half ended goalless without the away side having a shot on target.
However, three minutes into the second half, Manchester City found a way as France international, Cherki found Dutch star Tijjani Reijnders and he finished with a left foot shot.
The home side didn’t allow Manchester City to enjoy the lead for 15 minutes as Igor Jesus picked out the run of Omari Hutchinson and the former Chelsea star applied a lovely finish for his first goal in Forest colours.
With the game looking like its heading for a stalemate Rayan Cherki popped up with a sweet goal to make it 2-1 and hand Manchester City a vital win at the City Ground which took them top of the premier league table.
