Amorim Urges Patience Over January Business as United Stick to Long-Term Plan

2 Min Read

Rúben Amorim has stressed the importance of calm and structure as Manchester United begin to prepare for the January transfer window. The United boss made it clear that the club will not be rushed into decisions, especially after past windows where urgency led to costly mistakes.

Despite that cautious stance, Manchester United have not been short of transfer links. Softfootball earlier reported that the club are in active talks with Bournemouth winger Antoine Semenyo, whose £65m release clause is valid until January 10, 2026. The Ghana international has impressed this season, making him one of the names being closely monitored by United’s recruitment team.

Speaking about the club’s approach, Amorim warned against panic-buying and short-term fixes. According to Fabrizio Romano via his official X handle, Amorim said:

“What we cannot do is reach January and try to do everything with urgency and make mistakes again and be left saying… here we go again. We are going to continue with our plan. The club comes first.”

Amorim has also indicated that he is open to signing players from Manchester City in January, as United look to strengthen squad depth. Injuries and the ongoing AFCON tournament, which has seen several players depart for international duty, have placed added strain on the squad, making reinforcements a real possibility.

For now, the message from Old Trafford is clear: United will move with purpose, not panic. Any January additions will be made to fit the club’s long-term vision, as Amorim looks to rebuild with patience and stability at the core of his project.
