Arsenal striker Viktor Gyökeres has acknowledged the disappointment inside the dressing room after the Gunners’ dramatic 2-1 defeat to Aston Villa at Villa Park on Sunday. Matty Cash had given the hosts the lead, but Arsenal fought back and equalised through Leandro Trossard, seemingly set to return to north London with a hard-earned point before Emi Buendia’s stoppage-time winner ended their 18-game unbeaten run in all competitions, Softfootball reports.
The defeat, which came in agonising fashion at Villa Park, naturally left emotions high within the squad as they processed the end of their impressive unbeaten streak.

Speaking to the press via the club’s official X handle, Gyökeres admitted the timing and nature of the defeat made it particularly painful for the team.
We are of course disappointed with the result. “It’s not a great feeling right now, but it’s only December and there are a lot of games to play. You can always find some positives, but it’s still a very difficult way to lose a football game. It’s tough right now, but we’ll look forward to the next one soon.

Gyökeres, who last scored in the win over Burnley last month, only recently returned from injury against Chelsea and has been working his way back to full sharpness. The forward noted that the team’s ability to create opportunities remains a major positive as they aim to reposition themselves quickly, he said:
We have to keep creating chances and get shots on goal because then you’ll eventually score more goals. So yes, that’s of course a positive and we just need to do things in between also a bit better.
With Arsenal’s long unbeaten streak now broken in the cruellest fashion, Gyökeres insists the focus has already shifted to responding immediately and starting another run, showing the squad’s determination to move past the setback.
