Aston Villa have added João Palhinha to their shortlist as they assess midfield reinforcements ahead of the summer transfer window. No official bid or talks have taken place between Aston Villa and Bayern Munich, with the Portuguese international currently one of several options being considered by the Premier League club.
Softfootball previously reported that Palhinha was set to leave Tottenham Hotspur despite his desire to remain at the North London club. His expected exit followed Spurs’ significant investment in midfield, including the club-record £85 million signing of Mateus Fernandes from West Ham United and the arrival of Sandro Tonali, which reduced his chances of securing a long-term role.
Aston Villa value the Portugal international’s experience, defensive discipline and ball-winning ability, believing he could provide added steel and leadership in midfield. However, the club has yet to decide whether to turn its interest into a formal offer as it continues evaluating multiple targets before the transfer window gathers pace.
