Norwegian Eliteserien club HamKam have renewed their interest in Aston Villa youngster Rory Wilson, with the Scottish striker emerging as the club’s preferred replacement for Mame Alassane Niang, who is set to join Porto.
Softfootball understands that HamKam want to sign the 20-year-old on loan until December, with the proposed deal not including an option to make the move permanent.
Wilson remains one of Aston Villa’s highly regarded young prospects despite yet to make a senior appearance for the Premier League club. The Scotland Under-21 international joined Villa from Rangers in 2022 and signed a contract extension in April 2025, underlining the club’s long-term faith in his potential.
The forward has spent the second half of 2026 on loan at Austrian side Sturm Graz, where he has continued his development by gaining valuable first-team experience.
A loan move would offer Wilson another opportunity for consistent senior football while allowing Aston Villa to continue monitoring his progress before deciding on his long-term future at Villa Park. Talks are expected to continue in the coming days as HamKam look to finalise the agreement and strengthen their attacking options for the remainder of the Eliteserien campaign.
