Two goals from Mikel Oyarzabal and a goal each from Ferran Torres and Martín Zubimendi gave Spain a comprehensive 4-0 victory over Georgia away from home.

During the post-match interview which was shared via Spain’s official X handle, Luis de la Fuente believes Georgia had good team but his side were simply better and hungrier for the win. He said:

It’s not that the Georgian team is weak — they just ran into a monster of a rival. Spain put in top-level work. An ambitious squad that wanted to win and play great football.

I feel admiration and pride in leading an exceptional generation of footballers. Surpassing a record set by an unforgettable group of players is a remarkable achievement. We must continue moving forward, achieving results and progressing toward the exciting objectives ahead.

Also, Ferran Torres, who scored in the game feels proud to be in Spain’s top 10 all-time topscorer’s list. The Barcelona forward scored the third goal of the match and celebrated wildly.

Spain will be back in action on Tuesday when they host Turkey in the final 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier in Group E. They need just a draw while the visitors will need to do the impossible and beat Spain at home.
