3 Min Read

Marcus Rashford’s impressive loan spell performances at Barcelona have stirred conversation after England manager Thomas Tuchel addressed questions about the forward’s happiness and focus. During a press conference, a reporter asked if the manager was concerned that Rashford, currently thriving in Spain, might be less settled toward the end of his loan, closer to the World Cup.

Speaking at a press conference shared on England’s official X account, Tuchel, who recently reflected on England’s perfect World Cup qualifying run, as reported by SoftFootball, dismissed the speculation, emphasising Rashford’s current mindset.

He said:

He’s in a good place now, he is with us because he deserves to. He needs prove himself in Barcelona every three days, which is good for us. He needs to prove himself in our camps, which is just normal and right thing to do. My head is not in the World Cup. He is in a good place now, he’s competitive and that’s why he is here. He needs to prove the point In next two matches.

Since joining Barcelona in July 2025 on a loan from Manchester United with a €35 million buy option, Rashford has contributed to eight goals in 12 La Liga appearances, giving fans and pundits plenty to talk about. His form is also raising questions about how his performances could impact England’s squad.

The debate online is already lively. @keenn_eth reacted by suggesting Spain could be a better fit for the striker:

Hope Barca sign him permanently. So Manchester United was not a good place according to Tuchel.

@Hollumuyiwa1 stressed patience, saying:

Why are these press jumping to conclusions here like they already know what will happen at the end of this season. He’s enjoying his football in Spain at the moment, that’s all that matters.

Other voices were more direct about Rashford’s Manchester United days. @aproko_Xparte said:

I don’t wish him to go back to United again. United nearly ruined him.

While @eustontipsters focused on his international form, commenting:

He deserves to be with the National Team the way he is playing at the moment.

Meanwhile, @Dcnwachukwu mocked the media hype, saying:

English media now monitoring his happiness, predicting he would be unhappy 6 months from now. You can’t make this up.

Rashford’s performances in Spain are also influencing England squad decisions. Trevoh Chalobah was called up to cover absences, while James Trafford replaced Nick Pope for November qualifiers. With his form on the rise, the discussion around Rashford’s Barcelona future is only set to grow as the season continues.
