Real Madrid manager, Xabi Alonso has sounded out to his players that it’s still November and they must continue to work hard, Softfootball reports.
The Los Blancos played out a goalless draw against City rivals Rayo Vallecano in the Match-Day 12 of LaLiga just before the international break. Real Madrid had lost in midweek against Liverpool at Anfield and needed a positive result away from home but it didn’t turn out the way they wanted.
Speaking after the game in the post-match interview as shared via Real Madrid’s official X handle. Alonso said:
I’m concerned that we must keep growing, improving, and engaging in positive self-reflection. This is Madrid and we all know where we are. It’s still November, there’s a long way to go. We have to be demanding of ourselves and also prudent.
We didn’t win every duel, but we didn’t lose them all either. Today was a very competitive match, with Rayo playing a lot on the transition. In the second half, the defence held up very well. We couldn’t break them down on the offensive transitions, but on the defensive ones, Carreras, Militão, Asencio and Valverde did well with the help of Camavinga. It’s not a lack of intensity.
It was a keenly contested match of few chances. The result meant if Barcelona beat Celta Vigo they move within three points of Real Madrid. They may not have score today but Real Madrid are willing to allow Endrick leave on loan in January while they rely on Vinicius Junior and Kylian Mbappe for goals this season.
Real Madrid have won 10, drawn one and lost one out of their 12 LaLiga matches played so far while Rayo Vallecano have now drawn eight of their last 16 matches played at home in La Liga in 2025.
